Tips on Table Settings
Walk into some of Nova Scotia’s hottest restaurants and you’ll see great examples of how to create a dramatic dining space. By harmonizing a room’s décor with the food and beverage menu, you can create a more cohesive experience for your guests. You, too, can easily add drama to your own dinner parties without feeling like you have bankrolled a restaurant.
Your food and wine choices are a direct reflection of your personal style. If your dining room uses traditional furniture and classic tableware such as china and crystal then modern plate designs and contemporary cocktails can look awkward and out of place. In this case serve classic cocktails or Old World wines with classic packaging and traditional gourmet fare. Cookbooks such as French Country Cooking by Elizabeth David and Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child are great resources for traditional French recipes that never go out of style.
If your room is more modern, try incorporating similar contemporary tableware and glassware. As far as the all-important food and drink, serve up contemporary cocktails, inspired modern cuisine and great New World wines with distinctive packaging.
