Our retail stores are staffed with friendly, knowledgeable, socially responsible and customer-focused employees. We look for qualified candidates who are reliable and available to work a variety of shifts. Typical retail opportunities include casual, part-time and full-time Store Clerks, full time Retail Product Specialists and Store Management positions. All casual retail applications are handled at store level; interested candidates are invited to submit a completed application to the specific store location they are interested in working in.

  1. Casual Retail Store Clerk Head of Jeddore - Now Hiring

    Casual Store Clerk - Head of Jeddore

    Casual Store Clerks are responsible for providing high quality customer service, effectively handling transactions, ensuring that the relevant provisions of the Liquor Control Act and Regulations are adhered to, and performing other responsibilities necessary for the efficient operation and maintenance of the store. The Store Clerk is expected to perform these responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the Purpose, Vision, and (KORE) Values of the NSLC.

    Once hired, qualified and trained casual employees will have the opportunity to apply for other retail positions including part time and full time Store Clerks, full time Retail Product Specialists, and the opportunity to enter into the Store Management stream.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 19 years of age
    • Must have your Grade 12 or GED
    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Must be physically able to lift 23 kg (50lbs)
    • Must be willing to work shift work on an as needed basis
    • Must disclose all convictions for which you have not been granted a pardon under the Liquor Control Act and/or the Criminal Code
    • Must be bilingual in French and English if you are working in the Arichat, Cheticamp, Meteghan or West Pubnico store

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous customer service experience
    • Relevant sales experience
    • Previous cash and/or Point of Sale system experience
    • Previous experience in the beverage alcohol industry

    NSLC offers an attractive package for casual employees that includes…

    • A starting hourly pay rate of $11.60
    • Progressive hourly pay rate increases based on hours worked (first increase occurs after 400 hours to $12.93/hr at which time you join the NSGEU bargaining unit)Additional pay in lieu of benefits after 400 hours worked

Distribution Centre

Our Distribution Centre is located in the Bayers Lake Business Park, Halifax. The Distribution Centre receives, prepares, stores stock and ships product orders to our retail stores across the province.

The Distribution Centre also serves licensees within the Halifax and Dartmouth areas. It is staffed with productive, safety- oriented and customer-focused employees. Employment opportunities in our Distribution Centre are generally available on a casual basis. For these roles, we look for qualified candidates who are reliable and available to work a variety of shifts on an as-needed basis. Once hired, qualified and trained casual employees will have opportunities to apply for other Distribution Centre positions including regular part time and regular full time positions.

  1. Casual Warehouse Workers

    Casual Warehouse Workers (Up to 48 hours per week) 

    We are currently accepting applications for Casual Warehouse Workers in our Distribution Centre located in Bayers Lake Business Park. The NSLC Distribution Centre (DC) receives, prepares, stores and ships product orders to NSLC retail stores across the province as well as to bars and restaurants in Halifax and Dartmouth. The Warehouse Worker picks product orders, moves stock, loads and unloads trucks and containers, and performs any other general utility duties required in the Warehouse in a physically demanding environment.

    We’re looking for productive, safety-oriented and customer-focused employees who have a positive attitude & practice teamwork. If you enjoy a fast paced environment, are reliable & available to work shift work on a regular basis, and meet the qualifications listed below we’d like to hear from you!

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 19 years of age
    • Must have your Grade 12 or GED
    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Must be physically able to lift 23 kg (50lbs)
    • Must be comfortable working heights
    • Must be willing to work shifts including days, evenings and/or overnight (the DC is a 24 hour operation & typical shifts are 8 hours)
    • Must be willing to work up to 48 hours per week
    • Must disclose all convictions for which you have not been granted a pardon under the Liquor Control Act and/or the Criminal Code and willing to complete a Criminal Record check (cost covered by NSLC)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous Distribution Centre or Warehouse experience
    • Warehouse Management System experience using Radio Frequency scanners
    • Experience picking and operating powered material handling equipment such as an end rider and/or forklift

    • Progressive hourly pay rate increases based on hours worked. The first increase occurs after 400 hours to $13.33/hour at which time you join the NSGEU bargaining unit

  1. Marketing Coordinator

    The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation is looking for a marketing professional to join the Customer Strategy team as a:

    Marketing Coordinator

    In this position, the incumbent will be a key member of the marketing team providing support and assistance on an array of marketing activities. The portfolio includes retail marketing, in-store marketing promotions, product promotion execution, and support on all other in-store marketing activity. This position works closely with Promotional Coordinators, the Graphic Design Specialist as well as collaborates with the category teams.

     As a qualified candidate, you will have:

    • An undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a marketing-related role

     As an ideal candidate you will also have:

    • Experience developing and/or maintaining online marketing content
    • Retail marketing experience

  2. Supervisor - Financial Operations

    The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation is seeking an individual to join the Finance team in the following role:

    Supervisor - Financial Operations

    Reporting to the Manager - Financial Operations, the Supervisor - Financial Operations supervises the accounting team responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Banking by evaluating performance and providing necessary training and guidance. This role is also responsible for the planning, distribution and coordination of work within the department while monitoring the staff work for accuracy and completeness.

    As a qualified candidate you will have: 
    Undergraduate degree in business, preferably with a major in accounting 
    A minimum of 5 years’ experience in general accounting functions/operations
    A minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity 
    Strong computer literacy in standard MS Office and web-based applications; including automated financial information systems, and very strong MS Excel skills

    As an ideal candidate you will have:
    Experience working/supervising in a unionized environment
    Experience working in an SAP environment
    Experience working in a retail organization

    The successful candidate will have strong coaching and mentoring skills, good judgement and have sound knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to General Accounting, financial statements and reporting. The successful candidate will be very organized, and able to work in a time efficient manner to manage multiple priorities.
