Nova Scotia’s L’Acadie Vineyards

Located in the province’s lush Annapolis Valley, L’Acadie Vineyards describes itself as Nova Scotia’s “award-wining producer of premium, Méthode Classique, sparkling wines.” The name L’Acadie Vineyards was chosen after the rich farming history of the area the winery calls home.

The wine

Méthode Classique sparkling wines flourish in cool climates that ripen grapes at moderate sugar levels. Nova Scotia’s climate, tempered by the Atlantic Ocean, ripens grapes at ideal sugar and acid balances rivalling the world’s best-established cool climate winemaking areas. The style owes its appeal to fermentation in the bottle resulting in fine delicate bubbles and a celebrated bready aroma. All L’Acadie wines are made with 100% Nova Scotia grapes.

The craftsman

Bruce Ewert has over 25 years of experience in winemaking and is among a handful of specialized sparkling winemakers in Canada. He founded L’Acadie Vineyards in 2004, when he and his family moved to Nova Scotia. Bruce released the first Méthode Classique sparkling wine in 2008. Since then, national and international accolades for his sparklings have acknowledged his passion.
