In an effort to educate university students about the harms of high-risk drinking, the NSLC in partnership with most Nova Scotian universities developed Keep It Social – a multi-year platform designed to raise awareness and conversation about this important issue. Rooted in reality, Keep It Social doesn’t vilify alcohol or the students who choose to drink. Instead, it paints a clear picture of what social consumption looks like, reminding students that it’s always best to keep it social.
The Keep It Social platform has also been supported with a wide variety of promotional materials deployed across Nova Scotian university campuses. Posters, digital screens, mirror clings, tray liners, tabletop cards, coasters, floor decals and banners promote the Keep It Social message and drive students to keepitsocial.ca to learn more.
Since its launch, Keep It Social has been regarded as a best-in-class example of communicating the complex and emotionally charged topic of binge drinking among university students. As a result, universities beyond Nova Scotia have expressed interest in the Keep It Social platform, nationally and in the United States. The program is now expanding onto campuses all over Atlantic Canada.
