Chicken wings make a great afternoon snack or an informal appetizer when dining outdoors. This chicken wings recipe makes extra sauce which you can save for future BBQs or, even better, put in small, airtight jars and give to friends to take home as a gift. Just make sure to remind them to keep the sauce refrigerated and it will keep for up to 3 months.

Ingredients

24 Chicken Wings

3 cups ketchup

3 cups chicken stock

2 bottles of light lager

3 cups vegetable oil

Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon

3 bottles of cider vinegar

1/2 cup soya sauce

1 ½ tsp salt

Directions

1. Place all ingredients, except for wings, in a large pot to make the sauce. Bring to a boil and reduce until sauce coats the back of a wooden spoon.

2. Set aside and let cool.

3. Reserve 2 cups of sauce to marinate the wings and place the rest in airtight jars. Give them out to your guests as gifts, or refrigerate (up to 3 months) and use for future BBQs.

4. Marinate chicken wings in 2 cups of sauce overnight.

5. Place wings on a baking sheet and bake in 400 ºF oven for 25 minutes.

6. Remove from oven and finish on the barbeque, grilling on each side for 2-3 minutes to ensure a great crust.
