    Ingredients

    1 oz rum
    3/4 oz fresh lime juice
    3/4 oz simple syrup*
    5-6 torn basil leaves

    Directions

    Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake hard for 8-10 seconds and fine strain into a chilled stemmed glass and garnish with a fresh basil leaf. 

    *To make simple syrup: Heat 1 cup of water and 1 cup of white sugar. Stir sugar until dissolved. Yields 10 oz.
