Retail

Our retail stores are staffed with friendly, knowledgeable, socially responsible and customer-focused employees. We look for qualified candidates who are reliable and available to work a variety of shifts. Typical retail opportunities include casual, part-time and full-time Store Clerks, full time Retail Product Specialists and Store Management positions.     Casual Store Clerk

    Casual Store Clerks are responsible for providing high quality customer service, effectively handling transactions, ensuring that the relevant provisions of the Liquor Control Act and Regulations are adhered to, and performing other responsibilities necessary for the efficient operation and maintenance of the store. The Store Clerk is expected to perform these responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the Purpose, Vision, and (KORE) Values of the NSLC.

    Once hired, qualified and trained casual employees will have the opportunity to apply for other retail positions including part time and full time Store Clerks, full time Retail Product Specialists, and the opportunity to enter into the Store Management stream.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Be at least 19 years of age
    • Have your Grade 12 or GED
    • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Be physically able to lift 23 kg (50lbs)
    • Be willing to work shift work on an as needed basis
    • Disclose all convictions for which you have not been granted a pardon under the Liquor Control Act and/or the Criminal Code
    • Be bilingual in French and English if you are working in the Arichat, Cheticamp, Meteghan or West Pubnico store

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous customer service experience
    • Relevant sales experience
    • Previous cash and/or Point of Sale system experience
    • Previous experience in the beverage alcohol industry

    NSLC offers an attractive package for casual employees that includes…

    • A starting hourly pay rate of $11.60
    • Progressive hourly pay rate increases based on hours worked (first increase occurs after 400 hours to $12.93/hr at which time you join the NSGEU bargaining unit)Additional pay in lieu of benefits after 400 hours worked

Distribution Centre

Our Distribution Centre is located in the Bayers Lake Business Park, Halifax. The Distribution Centre receives, prepares, stores stock and ships product orders to our retail stores across the province.

The Distribution Centre also serves licensees within the Halifax and Dartmouth areas. It is staffed with productive, safety- oriented and customer-focused employees. Employment opportunities in our Distribution Centre are generally available on a casual basis. For these roles, we look for qualified candidates who are reliable and available to work a variety of shifts on an as-needed basis. Once hired, qualified and trained casual employees will have opportunities to apply for other Distribution Centre positions including regular part time and regular full time positions.

  1. Casual Warehouse Workers - Now Hiring!

    Casual Warehouse Workers
    (up to 48 hours per week during peak seasonal times)

     We are currently accepting applications for Casual Warehouse Workers in our Distribution Centre (DC) located in Bayers Lake Business Park. The NSLC DC receives, prepares, stores and ships product orders to NSLC retail stores across the province as well as to wholesale customers. The Warehouse Worker handles stock, picks and prepares customer orders, loads and unloads trucks, and receives inbound stock. These tasks are done in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner, and with the appropriate use of material handling equipment. 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Be at least 19 years of age & have your Grade 12 or GED
    • Be physically able to lift 23 kg (50lbs)
    • Be comfortable working at heights (up to 35 feet)
    • Be willing to work shifts including days, evenings and/or overnight (the DC is a 24 hour operation & typical shifts are 8 hours)
    • Be willing to work up to 48 hours per week
    • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
    • Disclose all convictions for which you have not been granted a pardon under the Liquor Control Act and/or the Criminal Code and willing to complete a Criminal Record check (cost covered by NSLC)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous Distribution Centre or Warehouse experience
    • Warehouse Management System experience using Radio Frequency scanners
    • Experience picking and operating powered material handling equipment such as an end rider and/or forklift

    • A starting hourly pay rate of $11.85
    • Progressive hourly pay rate increases based on hours worked. The first increase occurs after 400 hours to $13.33/hour at which time you join the NSGEU bargaining unit
    • Additional pay in lieu of benefits after 400 hours worked

    Reporting to the Senior Manager Communications, the Communications Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic communications counsel and services for the organization in a manner that supports and strengthens the NSLC brand; to serve as the official spokesperson and manage all media relations activities and collaborates with the Customer Strategy Team on social channels and content.     As the ideal candidate, you possess five years’ experience in media relations and communications. Work experience in, or supporting, a retail environment will be preferred.     HR Coordinator – Payroll and HR Information Systems 

    Reporting to the Manager - Payroll and HR Information Systems, the HR Coordinator – Payroll and HR Information Systems is a customer-centric role responsible for daily activities related to Total Compensation including; data entry, processing of confidential employment data, compensation (financial & non-financial rewards) and benefits administration. This role provides support to the retail network and business units in a broad range of HR functions.   3. Operations Manager

    We are currently seeking a collaborative leader to join the human resources team in the position of Operations Manager.

    Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Services, the Manager, Employee & Labour Relations is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective labour and employee relations climate; managing and leading the recruitment and selection process including diversity and inclusion; providing professional advice, expertise and hands-on support to management and HR staff in a broad range of human resource management functions; and leading a team of HR staff providing consulting and functional services across the organization.

    As the ideal candidate, you have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with experience in labour relations and human resources management, primarily in a unionized environment. A strong communicator, you have excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships. You have significant experience in the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, along with leadership experience in collective bargaining and experience dealing with applicable provincial legislation. You have sound knowledge of techniques for planning, organizing, coordinating and conducting formal and informal negotiations with employee representatives. You are familiar with methods of investigating, analysing and resolving employee grievances or complaints arising out of collective agreements, policies and procedures, or legislation. A collaborative leader, you have the proven ability to coach and mentor with a tactful and diplomatic leadership style.

  4. Supply Chain Analyst

    The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation is seeking a logistical professional for the role of:

    Supply Chain Analyst

    Reporting to the Inventory Control & Analytics Supervisor, the Supply Chain Analyst leads or participates in projects to establish or enhance supply chain score-carding, data reporting and analytics.  This position enables the development of key business insights and solutions through a fact based understanding of supply chain logistics, market trends, and global influences. Data collection and reporting; and collaboration within the supply chain business unit and across other business units are key parts of this role.

    As a qualified candidate, you will have:

    • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Industrial Engineering
    • 3 to 5 years logistics or Supply Chain planning experience at an intermediate level
    • Logistics or supply chain WM systems experience
    • Strong computer literacy in standard MS Office and very strong MS Excel skills

    As an ideal candidate, you will have:

    • Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering
    • Experience working in the Packaged Goods or Beverage Alcohol industries
    • Logistics or Supply Chain WM systems experience within an SAP environment
