Hiring Practices

  1. Employment Equity

The NSLC proudly operates in the ancestral and unceded territory of the Maliseet and Mi’kmaq People.

    A diverse team equals success.

When our staff bring their true selves to work, we celebrate. We know that diversity of thought, identity, culture and background makes for an innovative  and successful team.
In efforts to make our workplace a leader in attracting top talent, we strongly encourage applicants to self-identify in their application as women, members of BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and persons with disabilities.

We know that not everyone has had the same access and opportunities, and that this prevents many candidates from applying. We encourage all those who are interested to apply so that we continue to improve our efforts in diversifying our staff team.

In accordance with the Accessible Canada Act and the efforts of our province to be fully accessible by 2030, we continue to work towards our own goals by ensuring accessibility for our applicants, teams and customers. Read our Accessibility Plan.

Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

  2. Hiring of Relatives

When applying for a job, you are asked to indicate if you have any immediate family members currently employed by the NSLC. Immediate family members are not to be employed where there is potential for conflict of interest, or perceived conflict of interest, between the employee and the immediate family member. Immediate family means spouse, or common law spouse, child, parent or legally designated guardian, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, and in-laws of the same degree. Current step relationships and relatives residing in the same household are treated in the same manner as outlined above.

  3. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

Information requested for employment purposes is treated as confidential, subject to compliance with the disclosure provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, for the purpose of assessing suitability for employment with us. Personal information that we may collect is not sold or otherwise transferred outside the organization except as authorized by law.
