Dating to the 1930s, the Blinker’s exact origins are unknown. It appeared in 1934 in Patrick Duffy’s The Official Mixer’s Manual, and was nearly forgotten before reappearing in Ted Haigh’s “Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails” in 2009.
1½ fl oz Bulleit Bourbon
1 fl oz grapefruit juice
1 tsp raspberry jam
Grapefuit peel
1. Add all ingredients to a shaker, along with ice.
2. Shake, then fine strain into an ice-filled rocks glass (fine straining will remove the raspberry seeds found in the jam).
3. Garnish with grapefruit peel.
