The holiday season is a time for celebration, but for many Nova Scotians, it can be an especially challenging time of year.
This year, the NSLC is coming together with our teammates, partners, and shoppers in support of Feed Nova Scotia and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Thank you to those who generously donated in-store through our two giving weekends in November. Please read below to learn more about the important work these organizations do and how you can continue to help them make a difference in our communities through the holidays.
Feed Nova Scotia
In Nova Scotia, approximately 22%, of our population, or 213,000 people were living in food-insecure households in 2022.
Feed Nova Scotia’s mission is to increase food security through food distribution, education, and collaboration. To achieve this, they distribute over 2.5 million kilograms of donated food to shelters, soup kitchens, food banks, and meal programs located across the province.
Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia
Over the past two years, rates of anxiety and depression have more than doubled in Nova Scotia.
Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia works to increase financial support to community initiatives throughout the province, while providing hope and eradicating the stigma surrounding mental illness and addiction. They do this by providing funding to mental health programs and services through various granting programs.
Thank you to our shoppers, teammates, and generous supplier partners, Arterra, Molson Coors, Benjamin Bridge, Moosehead, Coldstream, Mark Anthony, Diageo, and Southern Glazers for supporting communities across Nova Scotia.
