2 Crows Brewing
2 Crows Brewing creates purposeful, well-crafted, modern and fun beers. They have a strong emphasis on mixed fermentation brewing, utilizing a large variety of different yeasts and bacteria in our brewery to create flavours and aromas that excite us. 2 Crows also focuses heavily on wood aging, with total of over 14 000l of wood aging capacity from a combination of oak barrels and foedres from a variety of backgrounds. While they like to push the brewing envelope with our craft, we have immense respect for the art and science of brewing, with strong influence from Belgian, Farmhouse, as well as contemporary American breweries..
Jeremy Taylor is one of the co-founders and head brewer at 2 Crows Brewing Co. He completed a master's degree in brewing and distilling at Heriot Watt University in Scotland after which he spent a few years working for a brewery in Vancouver. He is passionate about the use of wild yeasts and bacteria, the use of unique ingredients in the brewing process, and has worked hard to develop and maintain a barrel/wood ageing program within the brewery.
Mark Huizink is also one of the co-founders of 2 Crows Brewing and takes care of the financial/managerial aspects of the brewery. As a CPA, CA, his background in financial accounting helps him to develop strategies to ensure the long-term viability of the brewery, regulatory compliance, and general management of the operations at 2 Crows Brewing.
Kelly Huizink, also a co-founder, has a background in sales which has helped 2 Crows Brewing Co develop strong relationships with customers and the general public. Since the opening of the brewery she has completed level 3 of the Prud'homme Beer Certification, and she is hoping to complete level 4 which would make her a master beer sommelier. She plans to use this knowledge to educate staff and customers on the best ways to appreciate good quality beer.
Mitch Gilbert, although not part of the ownership team, has been with 2 Crows Brewing Co. since day 1 and has provided a strong background in taproom management, beer sales, event organization, and the management of various aspects of the brewery operations. Mitch has spear-headed the expansion of our distribution into various provinces across Canada, and is currently working on expanding our presence in international markets including the US and Europe.
2 Crows beer styles not only interest us, but will nab the attention of both casual beer drinkers and hardcore craft beer fans. Being attentive to the ever changing trends in the draft beer industry helps us evolve our own palette, and also lends a hand to what we brew. They're always trying to add our own spin to both newer modern styles, and old world styles, while still paying respect to the process and the history of its creation. On any given day you can find us pouring a crisp, clean German Pilsner, a tart Belgian Golden Sour, and a fruit-packed, creamy Milkshake IPA!
