"Garrison started out of frustration over a bland & choice-less beer market. There were very few full-flavoured brews on offer then and even fewer were fresh. We first set up shop in North End Halifax (before it was cool!) in a non-descript commercial space & paid our dues for about 8 years. We launched with Irish Red – still our second best seller – in the hopes of expanding the beer offerings of the time. Flavour, body & colour without being strong, heavy or bitter. We launched Barrack St. Brown (now Nut Brown Ale) 3 months later & McNab’s Pale Ale (a moderately hoppy English Pale) 6 months after that. We were initially all draught, launching with small kegs (20li torpedo’s) in the hopes of convincing restaurants & bars to give us a chance with smaller kegs. From the beginning we’ve been involved in community events, becoming the beer partner for the Halifax Jazzfest in our second year. 2019 will be our 21st year sponsoring that great event in addition to other great events like Pop Explosion, Hal-Con & Pride."

This means solid examples of classic styles with our cores, (Tall Ship East Coast Ale, Irish Red Ale, Hoppy Buoy American IPA, etc.), standard & experimental sours (Pucker Up!, Lemmondrop Sour Pale, Lucky Punk Sour IPA, etc.), hazy East Coast IPA’s (Juicy! DIPA, Wicked Good Pale, Hipster Viking NEIPA, etc.) & award-winning strong/barrel-aged brews (Grand Baltic Porter, Ol’ Fog Burner Barleywine, Wintervention Chocolate Imperial Stout, etc.)"
