"Uncle Leo's Brewery is named after Karl's Great Uncle Leo. Uncle Leo brewed beer from his general store in Southern Harbour, NL. At the time the place was fairly isolated so Uncle Leo's was where you went if you wanted a beer. To the best of my knowledge he brewed an English Bitter. Someday soon I'd like to try an English bitter sourcing the type of ingredients Uncle Leo would have had available to him in 1940's Newfoundland."
About the owner/brewer:
Karl and Rebecca Whiffen dreamt up the idea of owning and running a brewery as far back as 2011. In 2013 that dream was realized when Uncle Leo's opened its doors to a very big show of local support. "We believe that when a community comes together in support for one another, everyone wins."
