About the Owners
Founder Glynn fell in love with Guysborough when he was on cycling trip along the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia nearly three decades ago. At that time he knew that Guysborough would become the place he would raise his family and start the journey that became the Authentic Seacoast® brand. Glynn’s passion is to create with his hands. This passion led him to begin developing iconic Maritime food and beverage brands that speak to the history and spirit of the special place he now calls home.

Located in Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Authentic Seacoast® is the first commercial, integrated distillery and brewery under one roof in Canada. With a vast product line that includes FORTRESS® Rum, RARE BIRD® Craft Beer, SEA FEVER® Rum, VIRGA® Vodka, and GLYNNEVAN® Whisky, there is something for everyone at their combined distillery-brewery-hopyard-vineyard-apiary located directly on the ocean.

Authentic Seacoast Products
Authentic Seacoast® started with Rare Bird Craft Beer, which is inspired by people of rare character, the neighbours who have shaped the seaside village of Guysbrough. In fact, Maritime brewing began in Guysborough in 1659, with Nicholas Denys at the helm. Recently, they launched a new portfolio of six craft beers. Their colourful, artistic cans feature various rare bird species found in Nova Scotia and Canada, as well as other favourite bird types. Their flock of new birds/beers includes a wide range: from their Party Dove Blonde Ale, infused with wildflower honey from their own apiary, to their Sea Piper Coffee Stout, made with their own organic Full Steam Coffee.
In addition to being a brewery, Authentic Seacoast® is also well known for producing premium craft spirits. FORTRESS® Rum celebrates the history behind the walls of the Fortress of Louisburg. This award-winning rum is aged in oak barrels within the National Historic Site. GLYNNEVAN® Whisky is handcrafted by Glynn Williams as a tribute to his son Evan, the name coming from a combination of both of their names. Along with these two spirits, Authentic Seacoast's® portfolio also includes SEA FEVER® Rum inspired by John Masefield’s famous 1924 poem titled “Sea-Fever”, and VIRGA® Vodka which draws its inspiration from the local tales of mermaids that appeared in the mists off the shores of Chedabucto Bay. Authentic Seacoast® take pride in distilling their spirits on Guysborough Harbour, along the pristine Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.
