About the Owners

Family-owned and operated, Domaine de Grand Pré Winery was built on a love for Nova Scotia and a passion for exceptional wine and food. Owner and visionary Hanspeter Stutz took a leap of faith when he purchased the winery in 1994, trusting that he could build something special and grow the Nova Scotia wine industry.

Jürg Stutz, Head Winemaker
Jürg studied oenology in Switzerland and has always adhered to the mantra of allowing the grapes to speak for themselves, enabling his wines to tell their own unique story. Grand Pré’s wines have won numerous prestigious awards, a testament to his commitment to the craft and the exceptional quality of his winemaking. Working closely alongside Jürg is assistant winemaker Kimberly Gorman.

Tanya McInnis, Restaurant Manager
Tanya brings a wealth of experience to her role as the restaurant manager of Le Caveau at Grand Pré Winery. She is the team’s go-to person when hunting for specific vintages and pairing them with food.

What Makes Them Unique

Grand Pré Winery is the oldest farm wintery in Nova Scotia, and pioneered winemaking in the province. In fact, one of Nova Scotia’s signature white varietals, L’Acadie Blanc, was first released by Grand Pré Winery. L’Acadie Blanc was given its name at their winery as an homage to the Acadians that farmed the lands surrounding their vineyards, a part of which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Grand Pré National Historic Site).

Featured Products

Grand Pré NS White is a showcase of what Nova Scotia does best: clean, crisp whites with lively aromatics. An off-dry white wine that offers a fresh, crisp nose with hints of minerality and intense flavours of mango, mandarin, and ripe pear.

Grand Pré NS Red is a blend of two signature Nova Scotian red varietals, Léon Millot and Maréchal Foch. This medium-bodied red wine offers spicy, rustic notes and flavours of blackcurrant and blackberry.

Grand Pré L’Acadie Blanc is Nova Scotia’s signature varietal. This wine displays a medium body with aromas of fresh-cut hay and is complemented by notes of ripe pear, green apple, and bright citrus. The wine has a rich and slightly buttery flavour balanced by a fresh and lively acidity.

Grand Pré Reserve Castel is named after Pierre Castel, who first bred this variety in France. It is rich, dense, and deeply pigmented, and offers inviting herbaceous aromas of caraway and black pepper.
