Getting to Know Gaspereau Vineyards

Image
The first winery to be established in the Gaspereau Valley, Gaspereau Vineyards’ initial vines were planted in 1997. Formerly the site of a dairy farm and apple orchard, the vineyard stretches out over scenic rolling hills that are sheltered by the South Mountain on one side and the Wolfville Ridge on the other. With the planting of an additional 14-acres in 2014, the estate is now home to 50-acres of vines that have been specifically chosen to perform well in the area’s loam-rich soil.

European-trained, Nova Scotian native Gina Haverstock leads the winemaking charge at the vineyard. A staunch believer in minimal intervention, she has been crafting award-winning wines since 2007. Most of the estate’s grapes are hand-harvested and go toward creating traditional-method sparkling wines, whites, reds and their well-regarded Rieslings. Visitors are invited to sample wines at the winery’s boutique overlooking the vineyard or bring a picnic basket and hike the estate to find the perfect place for an outdoor meal.

Gaspereau Vineyards offers a range of reds, whites and a rosé.
