Four canadian cottage snacks

Bring your national pride with you to the cottage by packing, or preparing, a few of these patriotic snacks.

1. Ketchup chips

You’ll rarely find these unusual chips south of the Canadian border. They may be an acquired taste, but there are always a few Canadians who just can’t get enough of this condiment-chip hybrid. If you like ketchup chips, try making your own Ketchup Popcorn!

2. Maple sugar candies

A Canadian favourite made from one of our most sought-after exports: maple syrup.

3. Nanaimo bars

Whether you make your own or pick up some from your local grocery store or market, Nanaimo bars are a delicious and nostalgic (elementary school bake sales, anyone?) treat to munch on at the cottage.

4. Poutine

Try making your own “quick-cottage” version of this French Canadian classic with frozen oven fries, gravy (homemade or store-bought) and cheese curds, tossed in tin-foil and popped on the grill. Get the recipe.
