Camping refreshments

Sipping under the stars.

The best summer camping drinks are refreshing, portable and non-breakable. Think cans, plastic bottles, single-serve containers or boxed wines.   While that may sound limiting, there are a  wide range of great options to pack for your trip.

Even if you’re planning a camping trip for a large group with different tastes, here are a few great options to bring that will keep everyone happy.

Before you go, remember to check and follow the rules for alcohol consumption at different campgrounds. Provincial parks, for example, restrict consumption to your designated campsite.

Wine

Camping is boxed wine’s time to shine. This is an affordable option that travels well. Plus, you can easily cart home any leftovers since most boxed wines will keep in the fridge for up to six weeks. You can also look for tetra packs of wine.

Beer

Cans should always be your go-to beer option for camping. You can find pre-boxed variety packs at your local NSLC store, as well as build-your-own options with NSLC’s portable 6-pack carriers that you can fill with individual cans.

Cider

Most ciders are available in cans and make a great camping refreshment.

Spirits

Pack a selection of spirits, such as rum, vodka, whisky, or gin—but be sure to look for plastic containers only. Soft drinks, juice, soda/tonic water, and a few citrus fruits are all you need to prepare simple mixed drinks at your campsite.

Coolers

Your local NSLC store will have plenty of pre-mixed options in non-breakable containers.

Non-alcoholic options

Remember to stock up on non-alcoholic options, such as soda, bottled water, juice or summer standards like lemonade and iced tea.
